Russian Holidays

Visit Russia! No Russian holidays would be complete without a stop in Moscow, and it is just a day trip away from nearby St. Petersburg. The day begins at 6:15 am with a transfer from the hotel to the St. Petersburg train station. At 7:00 am, passengers board  a high speed Sapsan train bound for Moscow. These trains top out at a high of 200 to 250 kilometers per hour. Outfitted in luxury, Sapsan trains provide comfortable seating at all class levels, with first class passengers receiving extra leg room and complimentary Wi-Fi. The train snakes across the Russian countryside, offering spectacular views throughout the four hour journey.

Upon arrival in Moscow at 11:00 am, travelers are greeted by their tour guide for the day. The visit begins with a panoramic sightseeing tour of the city, followed by a stop for lunch. The tour then continues with a visit to the Kremlin, where the President of the Russian Federation lives. This iconic structure is one of the most well-known landmarks in Russia and is a must-see when you visit Moscow. The Kremlin sits on the northern bank of the Moskva River. This complex is comprised of five palaces, four cathedrals and the surrounding wall, offering enough sightseeing to satisfy any history buff.

The next stop on the tour is the Kremlin Armory, a museum established in 1808. The oldest museum in Russia, the Armory features collections of artifacts, jewels and other relics from throughout the country’s storied history. Many of the items on display were personal items from past rulers and Tsars. The highlight of the collection is the Faberge egg display, including the famed Siberian Railway Egg. Many travelers visit Moscow just to see this beautiful collection.

The Magic Moscow Streets

The final stop of the day brings visitors to Arbat Street, the oldest street in the city. This pedestrian thoroughfare runs through the heart of historic Moscow, giving visitors a glimpse into the past. Now lined with souvenir shops and restaurants, it has become more of a tourist stop than anything else, but travelers still visit Moscow from around the globe to see the memorial statue for Alexander Pushkin and his wife Natalya. While wandering the street, guests are treated to live entertainment from local street performers, including break dancers, folk singers and acrobats.

At 6:45 pm, visitors return to the train station for their ride back to St. Petersburg and return transfer back to their hotel. The high speed train makes this trip possible to complete in just one day. So, it is a must to add to your Russian holidays.
