Finnish Lapland Adventure Tour

Day 1: Welcome to Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland

Though your days will be filled with rustic surroundings and explorations of the area’s fascinating heritage. Your home base for this Finnish adventure will be a modern  hotel in the heart of Rovaniemi. Featuring all the amenities you would expect, the hotel’s central location means the city’s restaurants. Also shops and bars will all be at your doorstep. Your adventure proper, however, will begin on the very first evening with the Campfire Northern Lights Search Tour. Lapland’s Northern Lights displays are renowned around the globe. Also, Northern Lights can be in Finnish Lapland as plentiful as 200 days per year. And at just 6 miles from the Arctic Circle, Rovaniemi may just provide the world’s best view.
You will have a short distance through the stunning winter wilderness to a secluded site on the Kemijoki River. Here no obstructions or city lights will take away from the Aurora Borealis’ glory. In fact, the only other light will be the gentle glow of the campfire you and your team will be frying your sausages over.
Next, you’ll get a preview of Day Two. You will visit the Makela Reindeer Farm and its historic log-built main building Poro-Pekan Pirtti. Built in 1894, the building is nothing less than a trip back in time. We’ll then return you to your hotel to rest up comfortably for the next day’s jam-packed schedule.

Day 2: Spectacular Santa Claus Village

You’ll be thankful for the hearty  breakfast you’ll receive on the morning of Day Two as you’ll soon be embarking on what’s sure to be one of the most exciting days of your life. At 9:30 am, you’ll be taken by car to the Makela Reindeer Farm. Here you’ll begin the unforgettable experience of traversing the forest’s immaculate snow trails on a reindeer driven sleigh – to the final destination of Rovaniemi’s famous Santa Village! There, you and your family can explore handicraft and souvenir shops. Also, you can send postcards from the Santa Claus Main Post Office, rub elbows with the elves and even meet Santa Claus himself. He runs operations from his office. And although it may not be Christmas Day, you won’t go home empty. You’ll receive a Reindeer Driving License and a certificate commemorating your crossing of the Arctic Circle.
You’ll back to your hotel by mid afternoon, at which point the evening is yours. You can explore the city further, go for a swim in the hotel pool or unwind either at the hotel’s bar or in the first-class sauna at your disposal.

Day 3: Husky Safari

Though you may wake up thinking your holidays in Lapland couldn’t possibly get any better, your itinerary on Day Three somehow manages to stand up to the previous one! After indulging in yet another of the Lapland adventurer’s best friend – a filling and delicious  breakfast – you’ll be off to meet those other beloved Arctic animals – husky sled dogs. And while the reindeer will always remain Lapland’s official animal, there’s nothing quite like the excited, stridently-barked greeting you’ll get from these gorgeous canines. You will receive instructions from expert guides on how to control the sleds. Also, you’ll set off in pairs for an unforgettable Husky Safari.
When you return to the ranch, you’ll relax with a hot cup of traditional berry juice. You will listen while the head musher describes the incredible working life he and his dogs lead. After bidding goodbye to your new furry friends, you’ll be driven back to your hotel. Here you can again indulge in the many relaxation options at your disposal or alternatively keep the action going by signing up for one of our many Outdoor Activities.

Day 4: Say Goodbye to Finnish Lapland

You’ll bring your holidays in Lapland to a close any way you please (after another amazing  breakfast, of course). The city and any of its wonders you may have missed are yours to experience right up until we conveniently transport you to the airport or station for departure.
