 Day 1: Helsinki

  • Check-in hotel in Helsinki

Your adventure under the Northern Lights starts in Helsinki. After arrival, you will check in at one of Helsinki’s finest and most comfortable hotels. Then the afternoon and evening are yours to enjoy. You will explore this modern city in North Europe. You may visit some of the local shops, bars, and world-renowned restaurants.

 Day 2: Helsinki – Rovaniemi

  •  Panoramic bus tour of Helsinki
  • Overnight train Helsinki – Rovaniemi at 9:50 pm

After breakfast, you take a panoramic bus tour of Helsinki. It departs at 11:00 am. Headsets are supplied on board throughout the tour to ensure you experience the maximum enjoyment of the surroundings. You will see the historical city center, City Hall, the Presidential Palace, Senate Square, Parliament Building, Finlandia Hall, and the Uspensky Cathedral. The bus will stop at the Sibelius Monument and the Church in the Rock, as long as they are open at the time of the tour. In the evening, you take the train to Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland.

 Day 3: the Northern Lights tour

You will arrive in Rovaniemi in the morning and be transferred to your hotel. The day is then your own to explore this city, the heart of Finnish Lapland. By night, you are asked to meet for the Northern Lights Tour and adventure. You’ll be transported by car into the Lappish wilderness. You’ll walk through the snowy landscape to a remote spot on the banks of a beautiful river. This will give you the best chance of seeing this most spectacular of nature’s displays, the Lapland Northern Lights. Enjoy sausages cooked on the camp fire and soak up the magical atmosphere. After this, you’ll be returned to your hotel by car.

 Day 4: Rovaniemi, Santa Claus Village and Kakslauttanen

After enjoying a full breakfast, a magical day begins. You leave by snowmobile at 10:00 a.m. for the Santa Claus Safari (*In December, the snowmobile ride is included as a separate tour). Arriving at a reindeer farm, you’ll learn about Lappish culture, traditions and how to look after reindeer. You’ll then have the opportunity to embark on a reindeer ride across the Arctic Circle. After the ceremonial crossing of the Circle, we’ll transport you by car to the world-renowned Rovaniemi Santa Claus Village. You will meet Santa Claus. There will also be an opportunity to send postcards home bearing the famous Arctic Circle postmark. You will also enjoy a delicious Lappish lunch at the restaurant. After your day of adventure, you’ll be back at your hotel. You will depart for Kakslauttanen by bus in the evening. Hotel check in in Kakslauttanen is upon your arrival after 3 hours of driving, followed by dinner locally.

 Day 5: Kakslauttanen

  • Husky safari, Kaksauttanen
  •  Dinner at 9:00 pm, Kaksauttanen

After breakfast at 10:00 am, you will take on a breathtaking two-hour husky safari. We will give you warm thermal clothing. So, no need to worry about the cold. The dogs are a happy, friendly team who like nothing better than showing visitors. Enjoy your speedy sledge adventure! We’ll provide you with instruction on how to drive the sledge and how to turn and stop. With two people to a sledge, you’ll have plenty of practice driving the team of dogs. After the ride, you will warm up with some hot coffee and get to learn about the life of a husky dog in Finnish Lapland. You will have a Finnish dinner in the evening.

 Day 6: Kakslauttanen – Inari

  • Private transfer Kaksauttanen – Inari

  • Visit Inari resident’s home at 2:00 pm

You’ll enjoy an early breakfast before departing from the hotel by bus for Inari in the morning.

Inari is the cultural capital of the north with an unequalled atmosphere and history. Here you’ll enjoy a truly magical experience. You’ll step into the culture of traditional Finnish Lapland, the indigenous Sami people, and the legend about the Northern lights. It’s an experience you’ll remember for life.

In the afternoon , we’ll invite you as a guest into a local Inari resident’s home. Our trusty driver will be waiting at the resort reception to whisk you away on a private transfer to your next adventure: Inari.  Yours hostess is the lovely Tula. She lives in a remote location on the shore of Lake Muddus with the reindeer she farms. You’ll meet and feed the herd while learning about reindeer husbandry and Tuula’s life. You’ll also get to observe the traditional method of creating Sami fur boots.

 Day 7: Inari – Rovaniemi

  •  Breakfast at the hotel, Inari
  • Visit Silda, Inari
  •  Depart by bus Inari-Rovaniemi at 12:10 pm
  •  Overnight train Rovaniemi-Helsinki at 9:15 pm

After your breakfast, you visit Silda, at the heart of the Sami area of Finland. Here you can immerse yourself in the Sami culture, the diversity of Lapland’s natural beauty and the magic of the Northern Lights. You can visit the Nature Centre of Metsahallitus and the National Museum of the Finnish Sami. There is a restaurant available on site for your enjoyment and refreshment. You depart at 12:10 pm by bus to Rovaniemi, arriving at 5:30 pm. Your overnight return train to Helsinki departs late in the evening.

 Day 8: Helsinki

  •   Arrive in Helsinki at 7:50 AM

You will arrive in Helsinki early in the morning, and here your tour of the Northern Lights concludes.
